With only three more weeks until the ringing in of the new year, now is the perfect time to take a look back — and not just at the past year, as we normally do come mid-to-late December, but at the entire decade before we officially flip our calendars to 2020. With that in mind, we’ve asked all Hornet users to contemplate the past 10 years and weigh in on a “decade in review,” in the form of a quick, four question survey.

We’re all aware that in the realm of entertainment, each successive year of the 2010s seems to have brought more and more LGBTQ-affirmative content to our televisions, to the big screen and to our ears in the form of queer musicians living their best life. But which film, TV and music projects stand out to you as the best of the decade?

Hornet’s editorial team has singled out a dozen “nominees” for each of those categories: Favorite LGBTQ Film, Favorite LGBTQ TV Series and Favorite LGBTQ Musician.

Was there a film you enjoyed so much you saw it multiple times in the theater? Bohemian Rhapsody‘s portrayal of rock legend Freddie Mercury? The summertime love story of Call Me By Your Name? Maybe the real-life high school drama of Love, Simon?

What TV series did you find yourself watching the most during the 2010s? The hilarious hijinks of Broad City? The non-stop music of Glee? The sexy horror-tinged storylines of HBO’s True Blood?

And who was your favorite music-maker of the decade? Openly gay male pop stars Sam Smith or Troye Sivan? Bisexual pop princess Miley Cyrus? Maybe you were most impressed by the songwriting chops of Sia.

Also as part of Hornet’s “Decade in Review” survey, we’re asking our users to think about the most iconic LGBTQ pop culture moments of the decade. We’ve singled out 12 of them, but which stands out as most important to you — remember the “It Gets Better” viral social media phenomenon of 2010? When Conchita Wurst won Eurovision in 2014? And there were some big political wins, too, like when the U.S. Supreme Court granted marriage equality to the USA and, just this year, when Taiwan became the first Asian nation to legalize gay marriage.

Take the few minutes required to complete our “Decade in Review” four-question survey. The results will be compiled and shared with all to see.
