Before we say goodbye to 2018, let’s take a look at the day’s big gay headlines, starting with disgraced comedian Louis CK, who during a stand-up routine earlier this month railed against queer people among other controversial topics. And in more positive news, the first-ever Pakistan trans Pride took place over this past weekend.

In other news, a queer nightlife party in Russia has released a steamy calendar, a Voguing legend from the days of Paris Is Burning has passed away and former President Barack Obama has revealed his favorite music, films and books of 2018.

From Louis CK back in the news to Pakistan trans Pride, here are the day’s big gay headlines:

1. Louis CK Rails Against Nonbinary People, Shooting Survivors and More (News)

A recording of a stand-up routine by disgraced comedian Louis CK from earlier this month has been making its way around the internet, and it’s garnered controversy based on his comments about quite a few topics. Not only did Louis CK — who it should be said faced no jail time after he was accused late last year of sexual misconduct by five women — criticize nonbinary people who prefer “they/them” pronouns, but he also joked that teens who have survived school shootings are “not interesting,” riffed about “retarded” people, joked about the penis size of men of various races and called his own doctor “an old fucking Jewish fag.”

As part of the comedy set Louis CK acknowledges that he’s sounding controversial but says, “What are you going to do, take away my birthday? My life is over. I don’t give a shit.”

2. First-Ever Pakistan Trans Pride Took Place Over the Weekend (News)

Saturday saw the first-ever Pakistan trans Pride parade take place in the city of Lahore, the country’s second most populated city. The trans community and its activists and allies took to the streets, signs and flags in hands, and attracted large crowds. Gay Star News reports that a bill has been drafted that would make it illegal to harass trans people at work. Though trans people face discrimination in Pakistan, the nation is more protective than others in the region.
