Courtney Act’s Male Alter Ego Will Host an Upcoming Dating Series for Bi and Pan People
Shane Jenek — the Australian entertainer better known as drag queen Courtney Act, one of the top three competitors from Season 6 of RuPaul’s Drag Race — will host a 10-part bisexual reality dating series called The Bi Life set to premier on E! UK & Ireland in October 2018. The series will follow a cast of bi and pansexual single British folks dating and looking for love in Barcelona, Spain.
Jenek who is also bisexual, said, “It’s high time there was a dating show for the large number of young people today, like me, who are attracted to more than one gender.”
He continued, “In 2018 we know that sexuality is fluid and sharing the stories and experiences, the laughter and the love making, of young bi people is so important.”

He’s right. It’s especially important to see bisexuals on the screen, even if just in a European reality TV series, seeing as only 26 to 33% of all LGBTQ characters on American network, cable and streaming services are openly bisexual (according to GLAAD’s most recent count of queer TV characters).
Jenek also makes a good choice for the show’s host. As Courtney Act, he has used his fame and social platforms to advocate for different educational efforts in the queer and straight communities. In a May 2018 video, Act explained what it means to be HIV undetectable and in a March 2017 video, Act advocated for parents to stop circumcising their children.

Interestingly, this actually isn’t the first bisexual dating series. Back in May 2018, we told you about What’s Your Flava?, a combination cooking-and-dating show in which young bi Australians hosted other bi folks over for dinner (with a side of romance).
