Hornet, the world’s premier gay social network has announced our ‘Pride Edition’ Version 6.9Timed with Pride Month 2020, the new Hornet Pride Edition includes brand-new features and exciting digital programming, all while many people around the world are continuing to stay home and physically distance themselves during the pandemic, and while many others have taken to the streets in the fight for Black lives.

For many years, June has been special for members of the LGBTQ community, as it’s when we commemorate Pride Month, in honor of the Stonewall Uprising that sparked a global gay rights movement in 1969. And even though the typical ways we celebrate Pride Month around the world — with parades, festivals, concerts and other large-scale events — aren’t possible now due to the world’s current health concerns, throughout the month of June there will still be exciting ways for Hornet users to connect with one another and the community.

Hornet strongly believes Pride Month is an opportunity to rally the entire LGBTQ community around what is currently one of the world’s most pressing issues: justice and peace for Black lives. The gay social network also understands that while not everyone is able to protest in-person, there are many well-deserving organizations currently accepting donations.

Here’s a look at the Hornet Pride Edition Release V6.9 and some of the exciting things Hornet has planned for Pride Month 2020:

On June 1, Hornet kicked off Pride Month with #PrideWorldwide, a new in-app campaign where users who place that hashtag on their posts will see a newly designed sticker added to their photos. We’ve already seen tons of users around the globe use the hashtag to showcase not just how they’re honoring Pride this year but also Pride celebrations from years past when they weren’t stuck in #LGBTQuarantine.

If you haven’t yet posted with the #PrideWorldwide hashtag, give it a try!

And along with the #PrideWorldwide hashtag and sticker, don’t forget about all of these chat stickers available to users, perfect for connecting and chatting about Pride Month:

Another feature that is part of this new Hornet Pride Edition is “Who Checked You Out?” — now users can take a peek at guys who viewed your profile, making Pride Month the perfect time to reach out and connect with other guys virtually, even when our in-person Pride plans are canceled.

Today, June 4, Hornet is hosting A Hornet Live Chat About Health & Sex in the Time of COVID-19, a YouTube Live streaming discussion featuring health experts from Russia, Brazil and Taiwan, about the pandemic’s impact on the well-being and sexuality of gay men around the globe. (Keep an eye on the Hornet feed for more info on how to participate!)

And later today, Hornet is proud to support MOBIfest, the first virtual Pride festival for communities of color, featuring a roster of queer talent including POSE star Dyllón Burnside. You can join the festival’s livestream (starting at 3 p.m. EST / 6 p.m. PST) by clicking on the story about MOBIfest or by heading here

Throughout the month of June, the Hornet Feed will present a diverse array of live Pride content. There’s no shortage of compelling virtual events planned across the globe — including virtual Pride festivals, digital drag shows and local Pride livestreams — and Hornet will be highlighting some of the best directly in the feed, allowing users to connect with their broader communities in real time.

Hornet’s push to present live programming will culminate on June 27 with the 24-hour digital event Global Pride, during which Pride organizations from around the world will celebrate with performances and addresses from global public figures and activists. The live event — of which Hornet is a promotional partner — will travel the globe similar to a New Year’s Eve broadcast, allowing all of Hornet’s international user base to tune in during the day.

All of these components of the new Hornet Pride Edition release are in addition to fixing bugs and other behind-the-scenes performance improvements. We’ll continue to update Hornet often to make it a faster and more reliable way to connect with the community!
