This Week We’re Swooning Hard Over ‘The Batman’ Star Zoë Kravitz

Actress Zoë Kravitz is one of Hollywood’s coolest women, and we totally get why. She’s absolutely gorgeous, she only works on interesting projects, and now that Matt Reeves’ The Batman is out in theaters with her as Catwoman, we’re absolutely swooning over her.
Here are five reasons why we’re currently swooning over actress Zoë Kravitz:
1. She’s Catwoman. Do we really need to say anything else?
Actress Zoë Kravitz stars as Selina Kyle, aka Catwoman, in Matt Reeves’ The Batman. She joins an incredibly impressive list of women who have played the iconic DC comics-based character. Although in The Batman it’s not explicitly clear that Selina Kyle is bisexual (though she is canonically in the comics), Kravitz has said that she played the character that way. Her interpretation of Selina is one of the best we’ve seen.
2. She’s a fashion icon.
Kravitz has been killing it on the red carpet and off style-wise for years, which makes sense when you consider that her parents are Lisa Bonet and Lenny Kravitz. Her looks for The Batman premieres have been next level.
3. Not only does she act, but she makes music, too.
Kravitz, just like her father, is a musician. She’s the singer for Lolawolf, an R&B electropop duo. Lolawolf has released two studio albums, Calm Down in 2014 and Tenderness in 2020. They’ve also released two EPs, Lolawolf in 2014 and Everyfuckinday in 2015.
4. She’s been open about discussing the racism she’s faced in Hollywood for years.
Actress Zoë Kravitz participated in BLM protests in London following the murder of George Floyd in 2020. She’s also talked about experiences she’s had in the industry, like when she recently spoke to The Observer about her skin color not fitting the studio’s image of Catwoman in 2012 for The Dark Knight Rises, which ultimately went to Anne Hathaway. “I think it was probably a casting director of some kind, or a casting director’s assistant,” she said. “Being a woman of color and being an actor and being told at that time that I wasn’t able to read because of the color of my skin, and the word urban being thrown around like that, that was what was really hard about that moment.”
5. She’s soon to be a triple threat. Kravitz is making her directorial debut with Pussy Island.
Not only is Zoë Kravitz a talented actress and musician, she’s also making her directorial debut with Pussy Island, a thriller starring Naomi Ackie and Channing Tatum that she also co-wrote.
According to Deadline, “Ackie will play Frida, a young, clever, Los Angeles cocktail waitress who has her eyes set on the prize: philanthropist and tech mogul Slater King (Tatum). When she skillfully maneuvers her way into King’s inner circle and ultimately an intimate gathering on his private island, she is ready for a journey of a lifetime. Despite the epic setting, beautiful people, ever-flowing champagne and late-night dance parties, Frida can sense that there’s more to this island than meets the eye. Something she can’t quite put her finger on. Something terrifying.”
The movie is currently in pre-production but it’s something Kravitz has been working on for years.
