DC Comics Says Batman Does Not Perform Oral. Sorry, Catwoman

Die-hard Batman and Catwoman fans might be disappointed to learn that Bruce Wayne is not all that great in bed. Allegedly.
Where do we even begin with this? Joe Otterson published an article in Variety about the recent trend of shows that subvert the superhero genre (think the Harley Quinn animated series, Amazon’s The Boys), and consequently dropped a bombshell on us all.
DC Comics — one of the country’s oldest and most famous comic book companies, and creator of Superman, Wonder Woman and Batman — has confirmed that Batman does not do oral.
Harley Quinn co-creators Justin Halpern and Patrick Schumacker talked about the success of their animated series and the fun of focusing on villains.
Halpern also shared this story about a proposed Batman and Catwoman scene:
It’s incredibly gratifying and free to be using characters that are considered villains because you just have so much more leeway. A perfect example of that is in this third season of Harley [when] we had a moment where Batman was going down on Catwoman. And DC was like, “You can’t do that. You absolutely cannot do that.” They’re like, “Heroes don’t do that.” So, we said, “Are you saying heroes are just selfish lovers?” They were like, “No, it’s that we sell consumer toys for heroes. It’s hard to sell a toy if Batman is also going down on someone.”
There’s a lot to unpack here. Like, what is so unmarketable about oral sex? Also did DC discuss this long before it even became an issue? What was that board meeting like? Also, every Batman?
Luckily for us, Twitter has done most of the heavy lifting when it comes to this Batman and Catwoman oral issue.

These ladies were allowed to sing an entire number about how huge Batman’s dick was in a kids’ show, but heaven forbid Batman lower himself to going down on one of them in an adult cartoon. pic.twitter.com/NsR7fRUt9k

How’s that for a double standard?
Oh, and let us not forget that time DC apparently had no qualms with showing Batman’s penis in the pages of a comic book! Yep, that happened.
Apart from the loss of our respect for Batman (and DC execs), Harley Quinn is a certified delight, with Season 3 set to air within the year. And with this next installment, we have a feeling that a major queer relationship is about to be confirmed…
