Nintendo’s Trailer for ‘Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’ Is Better With This RuPaul Soundtrack
Owners of the Nintendo Switch have been patiently awaiting the release of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, the latest incarnation of one of the Japanese video game company’s most popular franchises. The game allows players to face off against others as one of several different beloved Nintendo characters, including Mario, Link, Princess Zelda, Kirby and various Pokémon and Street Fighter personae.
But in an odd move (that some are calling intentional), Nintendo released the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate trailer without music. That decision has led fans of the game to add their own soundtracks, with both hilarious and exciting results.
Case in point: a version featuring RuPaul’s “Call Me Mother” track — off the 2017 album American — in the background of the trailer’s jaw-droppingly awesome franchise-wide melee.
In addition to the characters we mention above, the trailer also features Princess Peach, Mega Man, Bowser, Pac-Man, Mewtwo, Ash, Sonic the Hedgehog and Donkey Kong.

While the trailer above with a RuPaul jam is officially our favorite, other iterations of the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate trailer have featured everything from The Turtles’ “Happy Together” to Celine Dion’s “My Heart Will Go On.”
The only other trailer remix that really compares to the “Call Me Mother” version is this one with Queen’s “Don’t Stop Me.” The trailer sequence works remarkably well with Freddie Mercury‘s vocals for one of our favorite songs by the band.
And for those who are looking for the regular, no-music version of the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate trailer (snooze!), well, you can watch that here.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate drops Dec. 7, 2018, for the Nintendo Switch console. It’s available for pre-order here.
